About the instructor:

Daniel was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and moved to the United States in his teens. While he was in Brazil, he studied with Zygmunt Kubala, a renowned cello professor originally from Poland. Since his early teens, Daniel has been active in music ensembles and orchestras. After moving to the U.S., he studied cello at the Colburn School of Performing Arts in Los Angeles. Later he attended the University of California, Santa Barbara where he studied cello with Geoffrey Rutkowski and actively participated in the university orchestra as well as chamber music ensembles.

 

Experience:

Daniel participated in Suzuki music workshops where he received direct training on how to teach music to young children. Daniel also earned his California K-6 teaching credential and Masters degree in education in Santa Barbara, CA. His masters thesis focuses on parents' thoughts and opinions on the current music education in schools. His research results showed that parents believed that music could benefit the child cognitively, socially and will improve his/her citizenship and self-esteem. While Daniel was teaching regular education in schools, he also taught K-6 music education and was the director of the after-school-guitar- club as well as choir ensembles. Daniel teaches music either in a group or private setting. He currently resides in Davis, CA.
